I received these beautiful white Japanese Quince is a vase once for my wedding anniversary.  They were so lovely that I had to take the time and work on capturing their beauty.  I used French Kiss Textures for the background. In Photoshop I used the Masking tool to painted out the texture to get some of the flowers but kept some of the painted look.

When Faced With Hope And Fear

copyright blog

Photography and editing by Daphsam

Hope peaks out like a sun behind a total eclipse.

Paint the sky with my dreams, let my thoughts manifest my desires.

Reflect on my emotions.

Excitement and anticipation come as I think of the possibilities.

With reflection come the snaking fear of doubt.

The snake curls around my roots,

Threatening to suffocate me.

Look ahead, take in the surrounds.

Sway right, sway left.

Feel the loosening of the snake.

Softly,  shake off the fear.

A bright glow of golden rays blooms in my trunk.

Move my gaze past the darkness to the bright horizon.

A vibrating sensation moves through my branches.

My branches may take a beating but my roots, my core

will stay strong.

Whatever comes my way,

I am the tree of life.

Throwback Thursday: My Still Life Photography

I grew up taking pictures and spent many hours in the dark room. It was about 10 years ago when I really got into Photoshop. With the internet making it so easy to take online classes, I was able to learn the ins and out of Photoshop. Here are some of my images that I am most proud of.

” A Night At The Stock Club”
“Face Off”
” Romantic Evening”
“Sharp Shadows”

Photoshop gives the photographer some many ways of getting a punch of color. With the many ways of intensifying the contrast to make the picture more dramatic. Photoshop is a photographer’s dream!

All of these watercolors were painted on Arches Cold Press Paper, 100% cotton, 140LB. I find that the Arches is the best, high quality paper that is great for layering colors, water control and keeps the colors looking fresh and bright.

I use a scanner to transfer the watercolor into the computer and with Photoshop, I clean up the watercolor, brighten the colors.

Some of the watercolor brands that I use are Winsor and Newton Professional watercolor, Holbein Artists Watercolor and Sennelier. My favorite are the Winsor and Newton as their colors are more thicker and I have better water control with them. the Sennelier are more transparent and need I have a harder time building the colors up.

I am always working on branching out into the blending modes and layers of photoshop CS 6. I just purchased the book “The Hidden Power Of Blend Modes In Adobe Photoshop” by Scott Valentine. I just learned about taking a photo and creating a graphic illustration. I hope you all like it! I am selling this photo on an iphone 5 g case and stickers from Zazzle.
